Definitely much more romance, whilst still plenty of action, excitement and baddies. We also get to see werewolf couples that have mated for life centuries and centuries ago still living their HEA, and this was a much 'warmer' tale than the rest in the series.
It's possibly the truest mating of all the tales, as in this one, despite werewolves supposedly not being able to have babies, Alex and Julian do.
I am not going to go too much into the tale, as it is a simple enough one of a love story that starts out as a quest for vengeance on both the part of Alex and Julian, with Alex being blackmailed by Edward Mandenauer and forced to deceive Julian, but it turns into a story of true love and a true mating. It's nothing like the other tales, in that neither lead is an actual Jaeger-Sucher, but Alex, was one once, though she's since managed to leave and had 'fallen off the grid'. I was so excited to see that she'd restarted the Moon series, but was wondering a tad if this book might not hit the mark after a few years absence, but boy did it. It was so disappointing when LH stopped her Moon books a few years back, but then we got the excellent Liz Phoenix Apocalypse tales, so I thought that that was a fair trade-off (I am disappointed now that there's unfortunately no mention of any more books in that series at present on the author's website, but there are definitely more to come.). Handelands characters, human or wolf, are some of the sultriest, most wicked, and amazingly disturbing beings to play across the pages of a romantic suspense novel.
